Shipping Information
Included here are pictures of the crates we use for shipping the fennec fox kits,
showing the modifications we make.  We normally use a junior sized Vari-Kennel
which is airline approved.  Covering most of the side vents with a breathable fabric
allows for air flow as well as privacy and security for the kit; the front flap is partially
sewn on covering the door, yet still allows visual access for the airline personnel.

We use small zip ties to
securely lock the crate, so you will need to bring some
scissors to cut the tie on the front door.  We always make sure the crates are as
secure as possible!  We line the crate inside with either newspaper and soft toweling
or a carpet piece for soft-yet-absorbent & non-skid padding; there is some kibble &
veggies along with a couple ice cubes for food and water during transit.  We also
include a favorite toy for the kit.  Attached to the crate in the shipping documents is
the health certificate and a data sheet with all diet, housing and vaccine information
for your reference and files.  There is also a package of dry kibble & canned cat food
attached to the top of the crate to make sure you have the diet they are used to
eating available right away!

We have always used
Continental Airlines for shipping our foxes and birds with
excellent results every time.  They are well known for their attention and commitment
to the well-being & safety of the animals they ship.  Once a shipping date is agreed
upon, we make the reservations with Continental.  Once We've made those
arrangements, you will receive confirmation from us regarding date, flight information
and a confirmation #.

Example:

Thursday April 12, 2007  Continental Airlines

Leave LAX on flight 294 at 7:50am
Arrive Houston at 1:16pm
Leave Houston at 3:42pm on flight 1648
Arrive Ft Lauderdale at 7:30 pm

Confirmation # C123E45DF
Air Waybill # 5923456

After the kit has been checked in to the airline for shipping, we will provide you with
the air waybill #.  You can track the progress of your kit online, using the
cargo air
waybill #  provided after checking in to the airport; you can also track the flight online
by using the flight # given.  We ship out of LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) and
usually ship on the first flight out that is available; typically this will be a 7:00 to 8:00
am flight time.  Continental Airlines is also very helpful if you need to call them, and we
always appreciate the ability to immediately check online when the kit has arrived
and who signed for it!  You will usually be picking up your kit in their cargo office, and
do allow about 30- 45 minutes from the flight arrival time for unloading and delivery to
the office.  Calling ahead or checking the flight status online will let you know if there
is any delay in arrival time.  You will need to show your Drivers' License for
verification and sign the shipping copy to receive the kit, another safe guard.

If you have any questions that we haven't answered here, just call or e-mail!
